How is Artificial Grass Installed
If you have a hard concrete or tarmac surface that would be better used as a lawn, we can lay a foam pad to provide cushioning and a comfortable underfoot feel. While we cannot lay directly on top of soil because it breaks down based on weather conditions, we can create a sub-base instead using MOT Type 1 aggregates and granite stone, and then install as normal.
With the right preparation, we can even lay on top of garden decking.
Our installation process is surprisingly simple:
- We measure out the workspace and clear away debris, then uplift turf to a depth of around two inches before laying the sub-base.
- Next, our personnel install edge systems for the artificial grass to butt against, and so that the product can adhere around the perimeter.
- After laying the aggregates and granite dust, we smooth the area using sands down to 20mm and hardcore to level below 20mm.
- We compact the sub-base and put down a weed membrane, which we secure with galvanised nails, to stop weeds breaking through.
- Our team lays your artificial grass with care, making sure the pile runs in the direction of the home so that it looks resplendent from windows.
- To ensure a more natural finish, we apply kiln-dried sand. We brush the blades of artificial grass before, during and after the sand application.
